  Absolutely wonderful! I will be coming here again! My boyfriend and I came her to celebrate a new job. We made a reservation, which was a good idea because they filled up right after 6. The complimentary bread with oil and balsamic vinegar was warm and delicious. I got pumpkin ravioli with sage butter sauce. It was amazing! My boyfriend got lamb shank that was so tender it fell off the bone. He loved it. To end, we got the tiramissu which must have been sent from heaven. Go here. Worth the price.

  Very good pasta. The calamari we're also perfectly fried. I like that they are very serious about quality in their craftsmanship on the pasta, but not too pretentious to let you choose your own sauce. Parking may be a challenge, and it's pricy by San Diego standards. The missing star is mostly due to mediocre service and price.

  The ambiance in this place is killer. Out of the other great establishments serving up classic Italian fare, I don't think you can do better than Bencotto. They have rotating specials and all of the basics as well. The portion sizes are gigantic. Easily enough for a meal the next day.
